Ethical Tips

While previous posts talked about changing ways to become more sustainable, there are little modifications one can do to help the environment. This is the final post on this blog as some things must come to an end.   The following ways are quick and easy, while still being ethical. 1.       Tote Bag Something as simple as purchasing a tote bag and reusing it is already helping the planet and avoiding pollution. Plastic pollution is at an all-time high and doing something as little as reusing a bag without buying plastic bags is helpful. There are countless of purposes of using a tote bag. This could be using it as your weekly trip to the supermarket to holding your laptop and other essentials for uni. Moreover, a tote bag is stylish that goes with your outfit no matter what colour worn and adds to the outfit. Tote bags are made from organic cotton, linen and sometimes hemp materials. These materials are safe for the environment as discussed in a previous po...

The Ugly Truth About Fast Fashion

Everyone has fallen prey that known as fast fashion culture. You probably know more people who have purchased from known fast fashion brands such as Shein than ran a mile. It is a common routine to scroll endlessly through clothing websites finding what catches your eye while still being cheap. Clothes that are on trend and priced low are in high demand have become popular in the last few years. The idea of buying from fast fashion that is trendy and arrives quickly is attractive, however the implication of fast fashion outweighs the benefits of it. When you purchase clothing we rarely ever think about if the materials used were safe for the environment or the individual who made the clothing was treated or paid a fair amount. Fast fashion brands are harmful for the environment and is it a growing concern, yet brands still choose to supply cheap materials and poor treatment of workers. Workers are expected to be more productive to create more items while being paid dangerously low. In a lot of cases, the work environment is not safe, and workers suffer with the long hours. This is alongside the increasing stress that comes with the never-ending high volumes of producing fast fashion at a limited time.

Is buying from fast fashion brands really worth it?

@tamaraharvey0373

The materials used are always cheap, tend to break or fall out more quickly as opposed to purchasing from brands that value materials and thrive to be sustainable. It is important to learn from it by educating yourself on the long-term negative impact it has on the environment and educate others. Trying to buy less products from fast fashion brands and to be more ethical can go a long way. A greener planet can be achieved if we all contribute!

  1. Very important subject, so glad this is being talked about! Ethical and sustainable is the way to go :)) It is an issue for people on a low income wage though, as sometimes they cannot afford to buy pieces from sustainable brands and will have to resort to buying from Shein, Zara etc. Hopefully over the years sustainable and ethically made clothing will be the norm and much more affordable!

    1. Excellent point! It is an issue for people who fall on that scale and have to shop from fast fashion brands. Researching affordable sustainable brands are a struggle but not impossible. Hopefully soon I can upload a new blog post concerning that and inform others :)
